AZERTAC’s “If I were a tourist” feature: The next destination is the Ateshgah Temple State Historical-Architectural Reserve. Located about 30 kilometers from downtown Baku, in the Surakhani district, the Ateshgah Temple State Historical and Architectural Reserve is considered one of the most unique monuments in Azerbaijan. In ancient times, this site served as a sacred place of worship for Zoroastrians. These worshippers, who believed that fire held mystical power, regarded the eternal flames as sacred and visited the site for religious rituals.
