Azerbaijan marks 25th anniversary of the restoration of state independence. 25 years ago Azerbaijan Supreme Council adopted the Constitutional Act on the State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Though an extraordinary session, which kicked off on October 8, discussed the issue for four days, made a decision a week later. Finally, on October 18, 1991 the session of the Supreme Council approved the historical document. So, that day was written in the history of modern Azerbaijan as the Day of Independence.
